Barry Cuda and Richard Crooks (2011) rediscover Piano Blues Classics – 1861 Cuba to 1971 New Orleans. The pieces on this CD were chosen to illustrate the breadth and depth of the blues. I’ve included some root bag from 1860’s Cuba as well as old blues from the deep south U.S.A. We recorded at the San Carlos Theatre in Key West. Jose Marti the father of Cuban Independence, spoke here in the late 19th century and the resident ghosts kept nudging us and insisting we tell their story, too. The acoustics here are near perfect. No reverb was needed when we mixed it. Indeed, what you hear on this CD is what we heard when we played the tunes.
